They have been used in war time to find land mines. The coat is short and harsh with a ruff. The colors are white with a mask and large body patches: or the other colors can be a solid color, black through sandy browns with white markings. The average canaan dog weighs about 45 lbs. and is 23 inches tall at the shoulder. The tail is bushy and carried over the back.
